 Dear Corporate Citizens,

As an active member of the business community in greater Greenwood, the Friends of the Greenwood Public Library hope you will be interested in becoming a Business    Member of our organization. By joining the Friends, you announce your personal support for the community by your involvement with the Greenwood Public Library and hopefully help your business’ visibility at the same time.

The impact the Greenwood Public Library has on our community is far reaching,  although sometimes subtle. To have over 4,000 children participate in events and reading over 23,000 hours in the summer has its rewards in their performance when they return to school, and eventually the workforce. This is just one example of how GPL provides a safe, fun, encouraging environment for life long learning, for all ages. As tax dollars shrink, the Greenwood Public Library needs to establish an additional revenue stream for programs and resources that are not within our funding from the government. In an attempt to plan for our future, the Friends have developed gifts that can be in many forms, such as commitments over time, estate planning, purchase of a leaf on the Tree of  Appreciation, naming a room, Business Membership(click here for an application), or sponsorship of an event such as Summer Reading.

If you are interested in helping the Library continue to impact our community in a positive way - please consider joining as a Business Member. There are a few perks listed in the brochure such as free use of our community rooms, an ad in our newsletter (which goes to over 900 households), and a leaf on the Tree of Appreciation. The real gift is to the community with a  Library that is a warm gathering place where information and resources are shared with all ages, economic and educational levels. We hope you will help us continue to provide innovative lifelong learning for the Greenwood Community.

If you have questions, please call Jane Weisenbach at  31....

 Sincerely,

 J. David Julian, President, Friends of the Greenwood Public Library

Here are some things we do with our partners and some things we would love

to get a sponsor for to make come true:

  • Sponsor Summer Reading (Thanks to the continued sponsorship of Heartland Community Bank, Endress+Hauser, ReisNichols, Community Health Network, Gregory & Appel Insurance, and Duke Energy) More money is always needed for book prizes for everyone who finishes the program especially since we seem to be growing our participation each year.
  •  Sponsor the Community Wide Read : 2004 sponsor Reis Nichols, 2008 sponsor Old National Bank. The more sponsorship money we have the more books we can purchase to give away for everyone to share with their family and friends.
  •  Establish a continuing Early literacy program for caregivers and preschool teachers.
  •  Provide a Bookmobile for outreach to seniors, the homebound, those without transportation and young families.
  • Delight our community with great works of art for the atrium or a statue on the grounds.
  • Contribute to our permanent Endowment For Our Future to provide funding for the Library in perpetuity.
