3.      Recycle

We have partnered with Albiti Recycling to GO GREEN!

You can drop off your newspapers, old mail, catalogs and paper products to our bin on the Old Meridian side of the Library. For every ton of recyclable material – we get $$$ for the Library. You get rid of your trash and we get money for it –              we win, you win, and the environment wins! To find out more go to their website: www.PaperRetriever.com

 4.      Donate used books

During operating hours the Library will take all your gentlely used books you want to donate. The staff will take the books we need for the collections (we saved at least $10,000 for the collection from your generousl donations in 2007). Any book not used in the collection will go to the book sales. Again another win/win situation – you get rid of the books you cannot store anymore, someone else gets to enjoy the book, and the Friends get to earn a little money for the Library.

All these books go to our Friends of the Library Book Sale. To find out more click here.

Here are some ways that two families honored their loved ones:

The family and friends of W.J. “Bill” Fisher have generously donated money to the Friends of GPL in his memory and a special project has been commissioned to beautify the library that he loved. Mr. Fisher was a regular patron at GPL since its time on Polk Street. He frequented the library where he continued to pursue his enthusiasm for lifelong learning. “Pop” as he was also known, raised his two sons and one daughter in Greenwood with his wife “Bunny”. He was a naval aviator, veteran, businessman, loving husband and father and an active member of this community. His love of nature and the outdoors is reflected in this beautiful waterfall

The family of Ruth Weldy Mauzy honored her service to Greenwood and her commitment to learning with the Group Study Room at the Greenwood Public Library.  Her love of books, music and the arts was an inspiration to her family and was shared with many friends. This room is designed for quiet study or reading with no distractions from the stacks. This great room has a beautiful plaque recognizing Mrs. Mauzy.
