Get Involved with FRIENDS!

Friends have great volunteer opportunities for whatever time you are able to give. We have on-going projects as well as one-time events and projects. Our on-going opportunities are:

Book Sales
Three book sales a year: Spring, Summer and Fall. We need people to set up the booksale the week before the Thursday opening. We need people to work every two hour shift for all three days of the sale (taking money and putting new books out), and we need people to help breakdown the sale and rebox books for storage. Our most critical assistance needed is in the set up and breakdown. (a hint: High School kids needing service hours are ideal for this type of work!)

June 24th for Friends Preview Sale, June 25th and 26th: Open to the Public

November 11th for Friends Preview Sale, November 12th and 13th: Open to the Public

This is our continuous booksale! The room is just past the stairs in the lobby of the library. Although staffing is no longer needed - come in to see the new books arriving all the time! Special thanks to our great volunteer Paula Seiple for getting our new look together for 2010!           

Special Projects
Special events like the Friends Annual meeting held in January every year needs special assistance in mailing out invitations
The Indiana Author Fair needs clerical assistance in preparing and volunteers to help direct people on the day of the event.
Summer Reading is arguably the biggest program of the Library year with special needs for assistance arising at different time. This might be a perfect opportunity for someone with limited time to volunteer to be called on a project  basis.
The Friends are also looking for volunteers to help prepare the newsletter for mailing on a bi monthly basis.
