... Advocate

The Friends of GPL host many programs that bring the community together to discuss issues important to our community such as the Candidate's Night for those running for office to speak with the public about their views.

... Attend a Beyond Books Tour

Greenwood Public Library would like to take you on a tour of our library.  This isn’t a tour of our facility exactly, more of a tour of our mission.  This program will demonstrate the impact

Beyond Books logo

Greenwood Public Library is making on our community by sharing some true stories demonstrating the ways we are providing empowerment, enrichment, and education to members of Greenwood and Johnson County.  No one will be asked for money, this is really a program designed to make as many people aware of all the things we are doing and hopefully inspire some to become cheerleaders for our cause.

Questions/want to set up a time to take the tour? Have a church group, book club or service group that wants to have a special tour just for you? Just let us know and we will try to work it out.

 ...Tell Your Library Story

It helps our community when they know how a place like the Greenwood Public Library has helped its citizens. Whether you come to the library for empowerment, enrichment or education - everyone has their story.  Here is a sample:

My name is Sharon (not pictured): Before I found the Hip to Knit program at GPL I spent my days caring for my very ill husband and then my sick, adult daughter as well. As a primary caregiver - I stay at home on most days. Every day is much the same.  I came to the Library to get books to read and saw that the Hip to Knit program was open to anyone, even those who have never knitted. I made arrangements to be at the next meeting - it took me 6 months to get it right, but now I can do it! I even donate some items to charities for those in need and have gifts for family and friends! I am now doing complicated patterns, and helping other knitters. This is amazing to me, and I now have a great new hobby to fill my time at home while I care for my family. What a blessing for me.

We want to hear your story! You can email it, mail it or call it in (and if you have a photo to go with the story that is even better!). See other stories at Today's Impact!

 ... Attend Events

When you attend an event or program at the Greenwood Public Library, you can always fill out a comment card to let us know what you thought. We also take book requests! Be sure to let us know what you may want in future programs and projects. We are YOUR library and we cannot meet your needs unless we know what they are - so speak out for us!
