What types of programs are planned for Teenhq?
The Teen Services Department staff is dedicated to creating and offering events that allow teens in our community the opportunity to connect, experience, and imagine. We want teens to learn new skills, explore new activities, and feel apart of a community that supports their interests and encourages them to grow and succeed.
Programs include playing games, attempting crafts, exploring STEAM concepts, and even experiencing the library after hours. We are also excited to utilize the "awesome" in our community by inviting professionals and educators to host informative and fun events specficially for teens.
Who can attend programs at teenhq?
Teen programs are designed exclusively by and for teens, 11-18 years-old in grades 6-12.
To ensure that teens feel comfortable expressing their individuality, parental supervision at programs is discouraged. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your concerns with the hopes of assuring that you, your teen, and the other teens participating feel welcome and comfortable at library programs.
Please contact the Teen Services staff with any questions on program participation.
how are teen programs different than The Hangout?
Teen programming is scheduled outside of The Hangout hours. Programs are designed to engage teens in interactive learning. Most programs are an hour in length and registration is encouraged due to limited space.
The Hangout, on the other hand, is a specfic place and a specfic time for teens in the community to feel safe and comfortable just hanging out. No agenda, just fun! During The Hangout hours, TeenHQ is supervised and provides passive programming and activities. Click here for more info!
