My Librarian: Katherine
Reading has always been one of my favorite things to do. When I was younger, I was obsessed with survival fiction -- anything set in the woods had an immediate draw. Since then I've grown to appreciate the classics, especially modernist novels. I am relentlessly curious; willing and eager to learn about almost anything, so non-fiction (of many varieties) is another passion of mine. I tend to read several books at once; it's a great way to keep things fresh if you can handle the chaos.
In my spare time you can find me listening to live music, hiking short trails around Brown County (I'm there to stare at the scenery), cooking, geeking out at horror conventions, collecting dinosaur decor, writing my own music, and (of course) reading.

My Top Picks
Books that I loved, that loved me back. It feels wrong to pick favorites.
Biographies for Children
Some of my favorite titles that focus on a wide range of well-known or important figures. I love reading non-fiction aimed at children -- I can get the basics on a subject and decide whether I want to go deeper with a higher-level text.
Comics
Also known as "graphic novels," these are some of my favorites from our collection. The art is beautiful and the storylines are powerful. If you've ever thought that comics are just for stereotypical superheroes, there's a whole new world of sequential art for you to explore.
Non-Fiction Children's Animal Books
Are your kids obsessed with animal books? Here's a fun list of books about all kinds of animals, from dinosaurs to deep-sea fish. Many of them are picture books that you could read together!
Modernist Fiction
Do you feel an existential crisis coming on? Are you struck with an undeniable urge to "make it new"? Or perhaps you're just looking for a bit of a challenge in your next book. Modernsism as a literary movement aimed to transform and rebuild, making literature better than it had ever been before. There's only one way to find out if these experimental titles appeal to you...
Longer Children's Mysteries
Do you or your kids love getting lost in a mystery, and hate when it ends? Here's some longer books to extend the experience.
