Purpose of this Strategic Plan

This is an exciting time to be providing library services. Libraries have become community connection points, technology centers, and 24-hour providers of electronic data. Books on the shelf have been joined by electronic data on a variety of devices. The library, far from being abandoned by society, has become a bridge to connect people to others, to information, and to technology.

This amazing time in the history of public libraries is made uncertain by decreased funding and an increased divide between those who make decisions about the future of libraries and those who need their services. Libraries must be efficient financially, agile in responding to changing communities, and passionate advocates for their patrons. A challenging time requires a strategic response.
