Greenwood Library Foundation

The Greenwood Library Foundation exists to promote the core values, vision, and mission of the Greenwood Public Library through advocacy and fundraising.

How does the Foundation help the library?

The Foundation helps pay for all programs at GPL and also in funding materials, equipment, and resources that would not otherwise be possible within the constraints of the Library's operating budget.  GLF also helps advocate for the library.  Please read on to learn more about issues facing Indiana libraries.

Indiana Legislation that will affect libraries

SB1 and HB1001 both have the potential to hurt Indiana libraries.

Reconfigured Local Income Tax distribution will reduce our revenue. Property tax reform will reduce the financial stability of libraries and other local government entities without really providing substantive relief for homeowners. 30% cut to the State Library is being considered, which supports Indiana Public Libraries.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services: the infrastructure of Indiana libraries

You may have heard about the recent Presidential executive order eliminating the IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) and wondered what this could mean for Indiana libraries. Put simply, IMLS is the infrastructure of Indiana Libraries and the loss of that funding will put Indiana Libraries at risk.

What does IMLS fund in Indiana?
